MUBS in Hepatitis B screening Campaign

MUBS students and staff turned up in big numbers for Breast and cervical cancer screening, safe male circumcision, Hepatitis “B” screening and Vaccination, Eye and Sight examination, Blood donation and HIV testing and counselling. Under the theme, Your Health is your Wealth,”
the MUBS Guild organized the health week from February 24- 28, 2017 at the MUBS-Nakawa Campus. Hepatitis B is a serious infectious disease caused by the hepatitis “B” virus that affects the liver. It is caused by exposure to infected blood or body fluids like in mother to child at the time
of giving birth, sharing sharp instruments and sexual intercourse with infected persons. The symptoms for the hepatitis B are: Loss of appetite. Nausea and vomiting, body weakness, mild fevers, dark urine, body aches, joint pain and skin rash. The preventive measure to be taken is through immunization with hepatitis “B” vaccine. The exercise was in line with the Principal’s advise to the MUBS Staff to carry out periodic medical checks ups.
