The game between Makerere University Business School(MUBS) and Kyambogo University lived up to the billing as the two sides put up great display in the much anticipated clash. The Pepsi University Football League encounter played at MUBS arena in Nakawa on Friday ended with no winner as the two sides settled for a one all draw.
The hosts took the lead through Jonah Epau but MUBS levelled matters through Frank Ssenkaddwa with the two teams playing their opening game of the 2018 season. Despite MUBS having a bigger share of possession in the opening stages of the game, it was Kyambogo who took the lead through Epau at the 24th minute mark. Playing without head coach Charles Ayiekho who was on duty with Kirinya Jinja SS in the Uganda Premier League did not stop MUBS from playing well.
The two time winners and last season’s losing finalists kept mounting pressure in search for an equalizer. The efforts paid off dividends with three minutes to the mandatory break with Ssenkaddwa leveling matters to send the fans into raptures. Both teams had several chances to add onto the score in the second stanza but weren’t clinical enough in front of goal and the game eventually ended in a stalemate.
Action in group D resumes on Saturday with Mbarara University of Science and Technology(MUST).hosting Young Men Christian Association(YMCA) Comprehensive Institute.
