MUBS holds a cultural Gala on a yearly basis which is usually in the school Rugby Grounds. This year’s Gala was held on March 24th, 2016. It couldn’t take off in February because of the Presidential General Elections that where in progress.
There were 25 cultural associations that actively participated to mark the event. This time the Tanzanians also came on board, hence making the number to 25 compared to last year’s competition that had 24 groups.
This year’s theme was “Creating togetherness through culture”. The student turn up for the cultural Gala this time round was very promising as the whole Rugby Ground was filled to capacity.
The best performing group were the Acholi that parted with Shs. 600,000 Ugx followed by the Basoga Nseete second who went with Shs. 300,000 Ugx and in third position the Banyankole cultural dancers who parted with Shs. 200,000 Ugx.
This years’ cultural gala has not only united the students but has also made them know what happens beyond their borders. The best performing male and female students also awarded, each getting Shs. 50,000 Ugx for their talents and the experience they had in their traditional dances and cultures.
