As a means to increase employability among its graduates, the School had thirty (30) final year students trained on how to decorate. Organized by the MUBS Career and Skills Development Centre, the two days training held between April 26-27, 2017 took place at the MUBS Main Campus, Nakawa. The training intended to impact practical skills to the students so that they start their own business after graduating from the university.
Students were trained by Ms. Victoria Ssenkubuge Byoma , former MUBS Deputy Council Chairperson. Students were taken through how to use the available resources like clothes, paper, back cloth and empty wine bottles to make decorations.
Every Student practically made a decoration using paper, back cloth and empty wine bottle. They were taught how to paint and design the empty wine bottles using paint and sponge. Ms Byoma,is a lawyer by profession who sometime back decided to put her hand into adding value to leather. According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics the country’s leather industry has a huge potential to generate sizable export earnings owing to its annual meat production that feeds the hides and skins sector.
