Principal’s speech during the 68th Graduation – Prof. Waswa Balunywa
Mr. Chancellor Sir, all protocol observed. Allow me to first of all congratulate Professor Nawange. Most of the issues with MUBS have been talked about. But allow me sir to thank first of all the parents who give us the students, allow me to thank Makerere University and its establishment who handle this and allow me to thank my colleagues the staff in MUBS who do this great job of planning out these students.
To the MUBS students, there is one day in your life and this is the day, that day when you go to receive your degree. Allow me or join me to respect this occasion by having some degree of discipline among ourselves. It’s very important that as we address be able to listen to what has been said, so I would like to appeal to MUBS students for this single day in your life, leave the people out here a few moments for them to address you.
I would also like to request you that as you go away, please go away with an oral environment, may you please show the discipline that you have shown all along in your life and as you go away, you are going to a world that is hardened, you are going to a World where there is intrigue, there is back-stabbing, and all these that you see in the work place. You are living in a world of study when you have very few responsibilities but as you go to that World, I want to request you that use the degree that you have got to make a contribution to changing the way this Country is. As business students who have knowledge in finance, in management, in entrepreneurship, I believe you stand a head of everybody else in terms of being able to start businesses and being able to run businesses.
Go out and make us proud, go out and make that document that you have received today have the worth it’s supposed to have.
We always talk about the integrity of examinations, integrity of our documents, please keep that integrity. The world will look to you to see how best you can make a contribution in changing this world.
Again, let me request you, to maintain high discipline just for the next two hours or so and again congratulate you, may God bless you all as you go out in this great institution, thank you very much and God bless.
