Justification

Transport is a complex and dynamic part of a nation’s economic life. The industry employs hundreds of thousands of people in the distribution of goods and movement of people and everyone is affected by the noise and pollution transport creates as a bye-product. Our every day lives depend on transport, yet we must balance that against a need to maintain and improve the quality of the environment. The investments in all modes of transport i.e. Road, freight depots, railways, and inland waterways and air fields and in the vehicles which use them is growing as demand increases. The pressure is on operators who need to reduce their costs and strategically management transport and logistics related activities. This tension makes transport and logistics management a stimulating subject and is now generating a demand for transport managers able to work on resolving these seemingly conflicting needs. A career in transport and logistics management offers an individual an opportunity to impact on the daily competitiveness of the company in the global market place hence a good training area for future transport and logistics managers.

Key objectives

  • To increase the number of trained people in the areas of transport and logistics management in the country and therefore build capacity in the transport management field
  • Avail an opportunity to aspiring managers and practitioners to acquire formal and professional training in the transport and logistics management
  • Enhance research competences of the staff in the faculties and research departments in the field of transport and logistics management

Possession of U.C.E Certificate & 2 Principal passes at (U.A.C.E).
Essential: Two best done of the all Alevel subjects
Relevant: third best done of all A’ level subjects
